Being a part of our church family provides you with pastors and leaders who are responsible to care for you, watching over you in obedience to the Lord. If you have received Jesus as Lord and Savior, we want you to become a vital part of our family. The following information is provided to assist you in joining our church.

What do I do first?

You may start the process by coming forward to talk to a pastor at the invitation during a worship service or at any other time and expressing your desire to become a member

Will I have to be baptized to become a member?

Not if you have committed your life to Christ and have been baptized by full immersion in a church with the same doctrinal beliefs as ours in regard to salvation and baptism. If you are unsure, our pastors will be glad to help you determine if you need to be baptized.

What if I have received Christ, been baptized by immersion but am coming from another denomination?

You may join SHBC on your statement of faith and baptism. This means that you are making a public statement to our church that you have accepted Christ as your Savior and have been baptized by immersion.

I am a member of another Southern Baptist Church. Do I need to notify them that I am joining St. Helena Baptist Church?

No. We will contact your former church to request that they transfer your membership to Saint Helena Baptist Church.

What happens after I become a member?

  • To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

  • To walk vigilantly in the world; (Acts 4:13) to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our manner; to avoid all tattling, backbiting and excessive anger, to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage and to be zealous (Titus 2:14) in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

  • We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; (Matt. 18:15) to remember each other in prayer; (John 17) to aid each other in sickness and distress; (Rom. 12:13) to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy of speech; (Gal. 6:1-2) to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation (Eph. 4:26) and  mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
